Vingården in Klagshamn
The location of the vineyard in the south-west corner of Sweden, just south of Malmö and only a stone’s throw from Öresund indicates fairly coolish springs and pre-summers. This means that the wine stocks do not start to bud until the beginning of May and by then, spring frost after budding is very rare. The vineyard’s position between the limestone quarries of Klagshamn and Limhamn speaks for itself.
We - Murre Sofrakis and Lena Jörgensen - would love to hear from you! Questions, feedback on our wines, our web site, our ideas and philosophy - or why not pay us a visit? We are always happy to welcome pre-booked groups in our vineyard during the summer months (May 15 to September 15) when the vineyard shows off its most beautiful side. Looking forward to seeing you here!
Our wines are sold worldwide - if you are a restaurateur or a wine merchant and interested in our wines, please contact us for further discussions.
Officially, Sweden became a wine country in 1999. This opened up for the start of our vineyard. In 2000, the first plants here in Klagshamn were planted and the following year Vingården i Klagshamn was established. In 2001, 1,700 stocks were planted. Throughout the years the area has been extended and a couple of hundred varieties have been tried and tested. The first commercial vintage from grapes cultured in Klagshamn was introduced in 2005.
Today's focus is on a handful grape varieties of which the green grape Solaris makes out almost 85% of the production. 2019 the area is 1,8 hectare which produces 6-7,000 bottles.
